Fit for China | Delegation trip to China | 07-13 September 2019
The Chinese government is investing heavily in technology and innovation and, with 151 unicorns, is one of the most important start-up hubs worldwide. The cities of Beijing and Shenzhen are named as important competitors for Silicon Valley (source: Hurun Research Institute). The rapid development of China in the field of innovation is on everyone's lips. But what are the local dynamics really like? How do you make contacts in this exciting environment? And how do you enter this dynamic market?
According to the Chinese proverb "Seeing once is better than hearing a hundred times", Baden-Württemberg International is organizing a trip for start-ups to China and getting you fit as part of the Start-up BW International project funded by the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing for the Chinese market!
The program of the trip includes match-making, company visits and various opportunities to network with the various actors on site. In addition, bw-i would like to bring the participants closer to the Chinese (business) culture and its peculiarities as part of the program. The trip will stop in Nanjing, Hangzhou and Beijing.
Since the measure is part of the Ministry of Economics' Start-up BW International funding program, there is no participation fee and 50 percent of the travel costs (up to a maximum of 2000 euros) are covered. This trip is a very inexpensive way for start-ups to get to know the Chinese market and to make contacts.

Web Summit | Delegation trip to the tech conference in Lisbon | 04-07 November 2019
The world's largest tech conference started with 400 attendees in a hotel near Dublin in 2009. Today the Web Summit in Lisbon attracts over 70,000 participants from 170 countries, including 11,000 CEO's, 2,600 journalists and 1,200 speakers. In 2019, among others, Microsoft President Brad Smith, booking.com CEO Gillian Tans and Ebay CEO Devin Wenig announced themselves. The topics focus on internet technologies, new technologies and venture capital. Developers and start-ups can present their ideas and projects here - the Web Summit is primarily a forum for start-ups and venture capitalists, but increasingly also more established companies.
With the support of the Ministry of Economics, Labor and Housing, Baden-Württemberg International will enable Baden-Württemberg start-ups to take part in the Web Summit in Lisbon for the first time. The presentation is part of the state campaign Start-up BW.
In addition to participating in the conference with its 23 tracks, the Baden-Württemberg start-ups can pitch their business idea to potential investors and multipliers at a side event. For this purpose, Baden-Württemberg International is offering pitch training for the participating start-ups in Stuttgart in mid-October.
More information about the Web Summit is available at www.websummit.com.
