Interactional Linguistics

What distinguishes language that is used interactively, for example in a conversation or a chat? How does it differ from monological language, for example in a speech or a newspaper article? - This volume provides information on all central topics in interactive linguistics. The authors explain the theoretical and methodological basics and offer an introduction to the transcription of conversations. Further chapters are devoted to e.g. syntax, semantics, prosody, the multimodality of conversations and interactive computer-mediated written form. - In two-tone design with definitions, illustrations, numerous examples and transcripts.
