Note:If the code name for your processor is not listed in the table below, please contact your original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or motherboard supplier.

Use the following steps to determine if your processor supports Windows® 10 by using the code name listed in the table below.

  1. Identifying the processor: Press the Windows-Button on your keyboard and start typing system, choose System informationwhere the information about the processor with the name and number.
  2. Go to the product specifications website and enter the processor number in the search box. When you see the processor in the drop-down box, click on it.
  3. On the product specifications page, under Essentials the code name is listed on the second line.

    Example: The processor is i7-8700K.

  4. Select the appropriate result to open the product specifications page.
  5. On the product specifications page, under Essentials the code name is listed on the second line.
  6. Make a note of the code name, look for this name in the table below, and determine whether your processor supports Windows® 10. In our example, the processor i7-8700K has the code name Coffee Lake. In the table below we can see that the processor supports Windows® 10, 64-bit.

Upgrade only: If you purchased a system that came with Windows 7 *, Windows 8 *, or Windows 8.1 *, contact the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to upgrade to Windows® 10.

2 Intel Atom® processors (code name: Bay Trail) are supported for the Windows® 10 32-bit platform with the existing drivers that were shipped for Windows * 8.1. We plan to certify Windows * 8.1 drivers for the Windows® 10 64-bit platform only.

3 For processors that are not supported by Windows® 10, please contact your original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or the mainboard supplier.
