When do children start smiling
Your 7th week baby
Your baby can now “speak” - in one of them, of course own, not understandable languagethat would be better described as babbling or cooing. But it is already beginning to tell stories.
As a parent, respond to this by speaking to your child as well. For example, explain to him what you are doing while you are grooming, bathing, or sleeping. Your child may not yet understand you specifically, but they will understand that you are giving them attention. Your child will feel understood, taken seriously and reassured. By the way, this also works when you are not in the same room and your baby is remotely speaking or calling you.
Your baby recognizes you
A consciously smiling baby is a wonderful moment because it reflects his or her satisfaction. It also shows that they recognize their parents and are happy to make contact. About half of all babies can clearly be mothers and fathers by the age of seven weeks recognize by the voice and prefer them to strangers. You are greeted with smiles and friendly sounds and arms and legs kick with pleasure.
This also allows conclusions to be drawn about a normally developing brain function. Most often, a baby will smile properly for the first time between 6 and 8 weeks. But don't be irritated if it takes a little longer. A baby has its own schedule, you can't force anything. Of course, you can encourage them to do so by cuddling, gently tickling or playing.
Your baby will now be more and more concentrated and will be able to fixate on a certain object with his eyes. It now prefers more complex colors and shapes, for example, fascinated by a rattle or toy figures on the stroller. Make his world as colorful and interesting as possible by showing him objects and talking about them.
Total exhaustion - this word may best describe your physical condition at the moment. After the adrenaline rush of childbirth, the first exciting weeks and the new living conditions, now comes a phase in which yours physical strength possibly at the end is. Endless feeding, diaper changes, rocking to sleep and on top of that the evening screaming phases or even colic that will bring you to your limit. You are also likely lacking a great deal of sleep. Try to get help and take some time to relax. Just one hour of supervision or being driven out by a dear friend or good neighbor will give you a little nap and give you new strength. Don't be afraid to ask for help, nobody will blame you for it.
Accepting help - easier said than done
You don't have to do everything on your own. Even if it is not easy for you, ask for help.
If you're struggling to relax on command, then maybe you canyoga to help. There are good videos that are ideal for mothers with very young children because at home in your own four walls you can start slowly and take advantage of even short sleep phases of the baby.
