Where can I find internships

Your way to an internship in Germany

Which organizations arrange internships in Germany?

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers students useful information about internships in Germany. You can find more offers on the websites of these organizations and institutions:

Do you need a visa for an internship in Germany?

EU citizens can do internships and work in Germany without a visa. All others need a visa and a permit from the employment office and the immigration office. You can find information at make-it-in-germany.com.

What are the rules for internships as part of your studies?

It is less complicated with compulsory internships as part of your studies or if you are already studying in Germany as a non-EU citizen. With the student visa you can work 120 days a year. For internships within EU-funded programs such as Erasmus, Socrates or Leonardo you do not need a permit from the employment office.

How long does an internship last?

You should plan for two to three months to gain sufficient experience. Twelve months is the maximum for an internship.

Are internships paid?

Unpaid internships are quite common. However, large companies often pay a fee between 300 and 800 euros. That is rarely enough for rent and other expenses. Therefore, you have to prove financial reserves for subsistence during the stay and health insurance.
