1. What is coaching?

Coaching is a person- and process-oriented form of advice that supports students in fulfilling certain concerns themselves and with the help of their own resources.

2. Who comes to coaching?

Students who need personal and professional advice on developing individual strategies and overcoming temporary difficulties in learning (and behavior), regardless of their proficiency level.

3. Basic principles of coaching
  • One of the basic assumptions of coaching is that often the ideas and mostly also the skills and abilities that are needed to solve and overcome challenges are already available in all students, but are not yet being applied optimally
  • Coaching supports the learners in finding their own solutions and implementing them in a targeted manner
  • Coaching is neither tutoring nor a regulatory measure
  • The coaching is open-ended
  • The focus is on performance and / or motivation issues
4. Goals of coaching

“A basic goal of coaching is - there is a broad consensus here - to help people to help themselves and to take responsibility for themselves. Thus, the coach does not have to (and cannot) be omniscient for his task. Ultimately, the problem must be dealt with by the client himself. The coach tries to control processes in such a way that the coached's resources develop in the best possible way so that new options can be recognized and used. The aim of a coaching process is therefore always to improve or expand the perception, experience and behavior of the coachee. "(Christopher Rauen)

5. Coaching offers on the Dürer

We offer an extensive range of coaching in all grades, which, based on the basic principle of helping people to help themselves, tailored to the needs and level of development of the learner, can support sustainable changes in behavior and learning attitudes.

Lower level:

  • Each class has a coach (teacher who does not teach in the class himself)
  • Coach meets the students in small groups alternately once or twice a week
  • 5th grade: The main focus is on helping people settle in at grammar school and a cautious introduction to learning coaching
  • 6th grade: learning coaching, accompanying the students in their learning (e.g. "learning to learn") in order to find solutions to possible learning problems together
  • Parents do not need to register for this coaching. Parents can, however, report their child to Ms. Schlögl (This e-mail address is being protected from spambots! JavaScript must be activated to view it!) If more intensive coaching (e.g. as part of a self-management course) is desired. Then the students can also take part in appropriate workshops.
